Vineyards
We focus on Bordeaux varieties because they fit our terroir the best.
85% of our grapes are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Most of the remaining 15% is Blaufränkisch, but Pinot Noir, Syrah and Portugieser can also be found in our portfolio.
The excellent location and optimal age of our vineyards enable us to create high-quality red wines. 95% of the age of our grapevines is between 11 and 23 years.
Cultivation requires disciplined logistics planning. Some of our plantations are located as far as 20 miles from our winery. Despite the resulting inconveniences, extra expenditures and extra work, this fact gives us the benefit of diversity. Although we are talking about a small wine district, the scattered patchwork matrix of the single vineyards provides us with special enological opportunities. This is one of the reasons why we were among the first in the world to offer the opportunity of tailoring premium wines to individual customer needs. We are one of those few pioneers of high – end designer winemaking.
It takes immense manual labor to achieve great results. It is crucial to have the precise performance of the required tasks done. These, together with maintaining low yields of crops, are the cornerstones of our world-class viticulture / enology activities.
Our day-to-day relationship with the grapevines along with the winery’s similarly scrupulous, detailed daily work mean the true craftsmanship in winemaking.
